1. Add the mince to a large frying pan and stir over a medium heat until browned. Add the garlic and onions with a pinch of salt and stir into the meat. 

2. Then add the tomato purée, tin of chopped tomatoes, ground herbs, baby plum tomatoes, carrot, and a good crack of pepper, and leave to simmer for 10 mins.

3. Add spaghetti/pasta to salted boiling water for 10 mins whilst the mince is simmering.

4. Add a spinkle of chopped fresh basil and serve.

Serving suggestions

Low carbohydrate - Serve on its own or with fibrous vegetables.

High carbohydrate - Serve with spaghetti or jacket potato.


  • 500g lean beef mince
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed

  • Tsp. ground basil
  • 400g tin chopped tomatoes
  • 6 chopped baby plum tomatoes
